Bilingual Mechanical Engineer (Japanese-English)

Description:

International auto parts supplier in Plymouth, MI has an immediate direct-hire position for a bilingual (Japanese-English) mechanical engineer. Entry-level candidates will be considered.

Duties:

• Interface between customers and headquarters about automotive infotainment systems
• Handle mechanical engineering and validation—specifications, evaluations, problem solving
• Design products using CAD
• Conduct 3D modeling
• Schedule and possibly run tests including noise, vibration, thermal tests, CD skip tests, etc.
• Review and negotiate customer specifications and requirements
• Prepare meeting minutes for engineering and validation meetings with customers
• Provide clear customer requirements to the Product Development Team in Japan
• Customer plant support during product launch
• Support customer APQP and PPAP requirements
• Prepare technical documents for all mechanical issues as needed such as DFMEA, DRBFM, FTA, etc.
• Other duties as assigned

 

Requirements:

• High degree of fluency in written and spoken Japanese and English
• B.S. in mechanical engineering
• Knowledge of CAD, drafting, and 3D modeling
• Understanding of press parts, plastic molding, and tolerance studies
• Good customer service and communication skills
• Ability to apply engineering knowledge to solve moderately complex technical problems
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally
• Good teamwork
• Ability to coordinate with multiple departments, suppliers, and customers
